Tarot Major Arcana 18
The Moon

Overall meaning
The Moon is a warning that not everything is what it seems. The Tarot card tells you that something about a situation or person in your life is not what it seems, and you need to trust what your instincts are telling you to see past this illusion.

If you are waiting for a decision on something, The Moon indicates that the answer will either be delayed or be so vague that it will add to your confusion rather than clarify questions. Generally, The Moon indicates that there is deception or lies.

And that you should therefore listen very carefully to your intuition, be aware of your dreams – and if you are in contact with your guardian angel, your totem animal or other spiritual guide, be very aware of whether they are trying to tell you something from this path important!

Description
The Moon shows a large yellow glowing moon that is both full, new and waxing in a sky. The waning moon can be interpreted as deception, disillusionment and delusion. The new moon represents promises, and the full moon symbolizes fertility and fulfillment. The Moon is placed between two towers indicating the border of the unknown country in the background.

Below is a green hilly landscape, and a dog and a fox sit watching and howling at the moon. The dog symbolizes tamed nature and the wolf, wild nature. A crayfish crawls out of the lake in the foreground from the deep waters of the subconscious, which none of the animals notice.

The crab is an animal that belongs both on land and in the sea, and which constantly moves between these two. A path runs through the landscape and between the animals, through the landscape and up into the mountains. It is night in the picture; a time where darkness, sleep and dreams rule.

Interpretation
The card symbolizes illusions and uncertainty. The card symbolizes the gate or border between the known and the unknown. The card is sometimes referred to as the Karma card, alluding to the work that needs to be done each day, which is that each day we stand at the gate and make choices to stay on the old familiar side, or go through the gate to explore new sides of the world – ourselves.

The term Karma card is very telling, as it is not a single choice, but rather a lifelong striving and action. After all, Karma means “work to be done”. Presumably, this is a time of change in your life, and in this connection nothing seems either good or bad, which can seem confusing.

But the fluctuations and changes you experience don’t have to be negative. just give space to the inner confusion. Staying in the feeling can lead you to experience creativity and curiosity in a new way. Seek solutions to your problems through dreams and emotions, rather than logic and reason.

Keywords
Other words that describe The Moon are: susceptibility, femininity, unconsciousness, sensations, wavering, deception, intuition, gradual change, change in personality and hidden enemies. Only intuition and not logic can lead you forward. A situation where you only have yourself to rely on. Crisis of faith, slander, deception, hidden enemies.

Numbers
The tarot card is associated with number 18 – which in numerology is often reduced to 9 (the sum of 1+8) which means that you must pay attention to these two numbers in relation to the challenge you are asking the tarot cards about.

Astrology
The card is linked to the astrological sign of Pisces and its qualities: commitment to evolution and transformation.

Affirmation
I like the mysterious in myself and others.
